Fri 9th Jun 2017 - Loungers restructures management for next stage of growth
Loungers restructures management for next stage of growth: Cafe brand Loungers has restructured its management line-up as it gets ready for its next stage of growth. Justin Carter has been appointed to the newly created role of Lounge managing director. Carter, who joined Loungers in January 2015, moves from his role as chief operations officer and will head up the Lounge business, which comprises 84 sites. Propel understands Loungers management has decided the creation of a Lounge managing director role alongside the existing Cosy Club managing director role will negate the need for the company to have a chief operations officer. Jake Bishop has been appointed to the newly created role of group commercial director. Bishop, who co-founded Loungers in 2002, moves from his role as Cosy Club managing director and will be responsible for overseeing product and menu development, people and training, and operations support. Amber Wood has been promoted from Lounge regional operations manager to be the new Cosy Club managing director. Wood, who joined Loungers in August 2015, spent nine years at Novus Leisure before joining Loungers. Wood is joined by Paul Alexander, who has been promoted to the newly created role of Cosy Club operations director. Alexander, who joined Loungers as an operations manager in September 2009, steps up from his previous role as Cosy Club senior operations manager. Loungers chief executive Nick Collins said “These changes set us up really well for the future. Justin’s appointment as Lounge managing director is a natural step for the business having decided two brand managing directors would be more appropriate than a chief operating officer. Amber and Paul’s promotions at Cosy Club are particularly pleasing, and really demonstrate our commitment to internal progression”. Loungers recently launched Orto Lounge in Evesham and Molo Lounge in Southend and is due to add Lounge sites in Rustington, West Sussex, and Bridgend in Wales as well as a Cosy Club in Worcester by the end of July.
